In 1992, once UoS reopened, the Directorate of Information Technology was established under the title of University’s Computer Center. Although the field of IT was still in its infancy, and the staff were limited. In addition to being an achievement for the university, it became a center of consultation for local and new IT companies.
Under the new management team in 2015, DIT expanded substantially and alongside its fast growth, became the center of focus within UoS. The new responsibilities were adding new services and units to the Directorate with the intention of yielding better services.
The aim of the Directorate of Information Technology is to provide the University of Sulaimani Campuses (city center campus, new Campus and Bakrajo) with innovative, practical and effective staff-focused IT support along core IT services.
